Kochi Metro revives its proposal to build Thripunithura extension line

Image Source: Internet  Kochi, India (Metro Rail Today) : Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) revived its proposal to build a road beneath the Kochi metro’s S.N. Junction to Thripunithura extension. This was after office-barriers of Thripunithura Rajanagari Union of Residents Associations (TRURA) met KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera. They Submitted a reminder looking for a 22-meter-wide street connecting S.N. Intersection and Hill Palace Road.  TRURA chairman V.P. Prasad said We apprised him of the need for proper road connectivity from both S.N. Junction and Thripunithura Hill Palace Road to the metro’s terminal station at Thripunithura. This is crucial for the metro’s patronage as well, since commuters from Kottayam, Idukki, and towns in the eastern side of Thripunithura will have to otherwise commute through the congested Irumpanam Junction and the narrow bridge off S.N. The bids are for the Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro Rail Project. This was reveled after the opening of the bids of the contract package KBPMC- 01 on september 3,2021. Firms who have summited their bids for providing the project management consultancy services for Phase 2 are: Rail Vikash Nigham Limited. (RVNL) RITES Ltd. SYSTRA MVA Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. Lokanath Behera takes charge as Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd

Kochi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Kerala Government has appointed former state police chief and retired IPS Officer Loknath Behera as the Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) on August 17, 2021 for a period of three years. Behra takes charge on August 31, 2021, from K. R. Jyothilal, Principal Secretary to Government of Kerala who was given additional charge of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd after the transfer of Alkesh Kumar Sharma, IAS to the Central Government. Behera was appointed to the IPS in 1985 and is a part of the Kerala cadre. He started his career as an Additional Superintendent of Police in Kerala and also served as Commissioner of Police in Kochi and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Thiruvananthapuram. He was then appointed as Superintendent of Police and later Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
